GIS and RS Based Soil Erosion Modelling in Sri Lanka: A Review
نویسندگان
چکیده
Purpose : Over the seventy years, various soil erosion modeling methods were developed in world with different input requirements and complexity. Some of these models have been applied Sri Lanka covering several regions country at scenarios over past twenty years. Thus, prime objective this study is to compare commonly practiced GIS/ RS based assessment derivation techniques model parameters used Lanka. Research Method Scholarly research articles, conference proceeding papers, previously published literature on years critically reviewed, examined, compared find methodologies parameters, analysis methods, applications special reference Findings The results revealed that, each case, empirical predict rates terms rill sheet excluding gully erosion. Furthermore, loss catchment or entire scale has assessed case by using methods. are R factor (rainfall erosivity), K (soil erodibility), LS (slope gradient), C (crop management factor), P (support practice factor). Originality/ Value Different (R, K, LS, C, P) evaluated order most appropriate that can be future studies.

Long term coastal erosion and shoreline positions of Sri Lanka
Coastal zone of Sri Lanka is a key to sustainable development of the country. The erosion of country’s coastal zone has been identified as a long standing problem. Therefore, coastal sediment dynamics around the country has to be identified to develop an appropriate coastal zone management plan. Remote sensing and GIS techniques can be used for quantitative and qualitative analyses of coastal p...
متن کاملSoil erosion and sediment mapping in Aidoghmoush watershed appling MPSIAC model and GIS and RS technologies
Soil erosion is one of the important and worldwide environmental and economic issues. High amount of sediments accumulations behind the different structures such as dams requires several attempts to minimize their potential risks. Therefore, some quantified data will be needed in order to recognize those critical areas which requires urgent conservation. Since conventional procedures are time c...
متن کاملEstimating the User Cost of Soil Erosion in Tea Smallholdings in Sri Lanka
Soil erosion in developing countries is a widespread problem causing considerable economic damage. It still remains an intractable problem in many countries. Available research findings on costs of soil erosion indicate them to be high. Soil erosion continues to be a problem due to the difficulties of estimating the economic damages and attendant difficulties in developing effective control pol...
متن کاملStudy of potential risk of dengue disease outbreak in Sri Lanka using GIS and statistical modelling
Objectives: The increasing incidence of dengue fever has become a priority health issue for Sri Lanka. Recent dengue outbreaks in Sri Lanka show two trends: yearly increase of total number of dengue incidence and increasing dengue outbreaks outside the endemic urbanised areas in the south and the west. Identification of factors responsible for dengue outbreaks and the mapping of potential risk ...
متن کاملGis-based Approach for Change and Prediction of Soil Erosion
The paper has the goal to evaluate if the Universal Soil Loss Equation (USLE)applied using thematic paper maps and a DEM is sufficient to generate a model to map and predict the influences on the environment caused by soil erosion on Loess Plateau. Factors of USLE R, K, S, L, P as well as C were adapted to the test area, the Nihe Gou catchment in Chunhua County in Shaanxi. Afterwards the parame...
